iPad Hacked Already
iPad Hacked Already
Jailbreak has been initiated. It will take some weeks to roll out a public app. For now its being done the hard way, more like the programmer way. Anyone exceptionally good in Objective C with some experience in reversing should send me a pm.

Yay! Now I can use those apps that the 150,000 or so existing apps don't cover! And I get to void the warranty in the process!
Re: iPad Hacked Already
maybe it will mean some kind of flash compatibility ?

No flash...unless adobe will agree to offer it in the blackmarket. However they will never screw up any future chances with Apple or risk having every app trashed from the appstore.

You don't have to worry about voiding the warranty. I've taken jailbroken iphones to Apple (just not in its jailbroken state). Rarely have I needed to go to the Apple store for repair, but when our batteries got old, I had to. I simply restored the iphone via itunes before taking it in. Then when I got it back, I jailbroke it again.

Flash has been beta since the first iPhone. Besides the reason of it being slow and cpu intensive, here is why we won't see flash for iPhone:
- Flash has the ability to host applications. This threatens the AppStore. If flash were allowed, people would play games through their browsers rather than going to the AppStore.
- If that were possible, It could cause a collapse to most of the AppStore's efforts.
- Google has already in some way made this possible by offering google voice, latitude, and others through mobile safari (because apple did not approve thier apps)
- Don't sleep on google's support to evade flash for HTML5. They have something up their sleeve too. After all, they are now in the phone business and want to compete.
Re: iPad Hacked Already
I see.
So what will be the benefits of a jailbroken iPad do you think ?
From what I gather, jailbreaking the iphone was so you could switch service providers ?

I use mine as a wifi hotspot all the time, mostly just for minor web browsing.LoopStationZebra wrote:..and wasn't one of the benefits of a jailbroken iPhone to use it as a modem? Or did that not pan out?
Otherwise, it's just for utilities/tweaks. Categories, 6 icon dock, shrink, winterboard, backgrounder/proswitcher, grip (think growl for iphone), iconoclasm, etc.
I can't stand using any other iPhone but mine, now. I have everything set up on one screen and organized.
I don't 'produce.' I write music.
Re: iPad Hacked Already
Lets just say that evertime someone sees my jailbroken device, they want me to do theirs as well. Like Krism said, lots of utilities that you will love to have as as well as user interface enhancements. Its not just about using other carriers(unlock) its about the freedom to do what ever the device is capable of that apple has restricted (jailbreak).
