Snow Leopard/Live 7.0.18/Presonus=headaches!!

Post by telepathy51 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 4:45 am

Hey, I just put my 2nd copy of Live 7 on my new iMac which has snow leopard. I updated my software to 7.0.18 and it just drags really slow with my presonus firestudio project. As soon as I unplug the interface and turn the output to internal speakers and it works at regular speed. I noticed all they have is a beta version of the latest software. Anyone here working with a Presonus Firestudio Project/ Snow Leopard/Live 7?? Any fixes??

In Audio & MIDI Setup in SL, with the firestudio plugged make sure that external out is assigned to the firestudio and the internal out to the iMacs built in interface. Having both external and internal outs assigned to the same interface will cause problems.

sorry but where is the audio & MIDI Setup in SL? I don't see it in system preferences, just sound. Thanks in advance.

it's weird, I can close Live and reopen it and it plays fast than its suppose to. Shut down Live and reopen it and it is sluggish as hell! I think its a presonus issue, I can unplug this Firewire 800 cable and it sounds perfect.

Should look like this:

Notice how my Firebox has both input and output and the internal OS X sounds are assigned to the built in output. I was having similar issues where the Firebox would eventually conk out and randomly power off and on until I changed this.

I don't use Live anymore but at the time I had the same problems in Live and Logic until this sorted it.

Dru, at this very second things are working fine. I can never thank the folks here on the forum enough. You've been a MAJOR help! Now I just got to keep my fingers crossed that Presonus gets on top of their driver issues.

No probs, that'll be the problem there as mine was doing the exact same thing but hasn't glitched once ever since. :)

Oh man. If you want to see my rant about PreSonus support and the Windows 7/Snow Leopard beta drivers, I have a thread you should check out. Some experience with PreSonus' tech support is necessary to understand my frustration. I'm sorry to say, I doubt we'll get a final driver soon.
