Audio interface problems

Post by abl385 » Sat May 01, 2010 5:00 am

Hello everyone!
I'm quite new to this world, so I would like to ask you some questions..

Is there any point in connecting my midi controller (AKAI MPK25) to my audio interface (M-Audio Fast Track Pro) instead of connecting it straight to my computer? Will the quality of the sound on Ableton improve at all or will it still be the same? Also, when I connect it to the audio interface, it needs power supply (6V DC 1A). I bought a power supplier 1.5 to 12Vdc 1000mA and for some reason it still doesn't work. Do I need to get a specific one from the supplier? ..I don't get it. And how do I have to connect my midi with the audio interface? Midi ins and midi outs I mean.

One more thing, do I need some driver for my audio interface to work with Pro Tools? Cause when I open Pro Tools it says that no Digidesign hardware was found. It's just not compatible then? With Ableton it seems to work fine..

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, first... Midi is not audio, so connecting the AKAI doesn't change anything in the sound,second...I think that you need the version of Protools empowered, which is a LE (limited edition) to be used with an M-audio card. The full version won't do it.

and make sure you've got the voltage polarity right on the power supply...

Looking back at this now I understand how silly a question the first one (at least) was! But I guess I will be asking more of those in the future, so it's all fine! Thanks for the replies.
