APC40 not working with live 8

I recently got ableton live 8 with the apc40 I followed the instructions to the tee on how to set it up downloaded the beta version of asio4all v2.10 live works fine my midi keyboard works fine but I get no response from the apc40 any clues to what I might have done wrong or could it be the asio4all ?

any lights on the apc40? Do you have apc40 selected in the preferences for control surface AND input AND output?
