Please suggest some must have plug-ins for ableton
Please suggest some must have plug-ins for ableton
I have been using Ableton for quite some time but just recently bought Izotope's Ozone for mastering and now Sylenth1 for a synth. All I can say is wow - I never used 3rd party plugs before and they really take my productions up another notch. Are there any other plugs you recommend that enhance the sound and overall production quality?

Yes,
Go and buy the arturia V collection, plus sound toys native bundle for FX and a decent reverb - Altiverb is pretty good also.
Depends on what you want to spend though. They are all pricey but good.

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

I'd suggest a good reverb. Something like Aether/Arts Acoustic/Redline/Reverberate or maybe a couple of them (One algorithmic and one convolution).
I also like to have other overdrives than Live's (Ohmicide, Trash etc.) and multi-effect plug-ins like Artillery and Effectrix.
It totally depends on the kind of music you make though. I might also suggest a synth with different synthesis methods like Zebra, Alchemy or Omnisphere.

You already bought but, Ozone's limiting section is not OK for me. If you have cash, you should check Waves L316 limiter.
Sylenth is a good choice.

How does Sylenth compare to Alchemy?

Oh wow, I didn't realize it was already time for this month's thread that eventually lists every plug-in available on the market.
I'll just +1 everything right now.

My mixdown engineer buddy recommends URS Channel Strip Pro: http://www.ursplugins.com/ursStripPro.html

reaktor 5, zebra 2.5, don't buy other NI plugs if your sole host is ableton...just my personal experience.
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.

Massive, FM8, Absynth 5, Guitar Rig (2 and 4), Kore Player and B4II all work perfectly for me in Live 7 Suite on PC.
Also Kontakt Player 3 and 4 no probs.
Haven't tried the rest.
The Sonalksis bundles at dontcrack.com, especially $599 for the whole lot are amazing.
Cytomic The Glue is a great compressor for $99 with a very different flavour to Live's compressor (being an SSL G-buss emulation) but has the advantage of being useful for parallel/NY compression tricks too with range and wet/dry controls.
Synths - you can't go far wrong with Zebra 2.5, it is a real jack of all trades synth. If you like digital pads then Absynth is a good investment and Reaktor has so much built in and downloadable for synths and FX to make it worthwhile. I also like Massive a lot but would buy Zebra first, given you already have Sylenth. I love ARturia's synths but they are very specific emulations of vintage synths, as opposed to more versatile analog as Sylenth and Zebra etc - still, if you love a Prophet V or Jupiter 8 sound so much and want to recreate it with more realism than a general purpose subtractive synth, then go for it but dongle will be required (the minimoog has a soft e-licenser option).
Reverbs - Reverberate is great for convolution, load up the free Acousticas Bricasti M7 and some other decent Impulses and you're flying - deep pockets - Altiverb which already comes with a very big impressive library. FOr sound design Aether and D16's Toraverb are both really good. For other algorithmic, Red Line Reverb, IKM's Classik Studio Reverb and the new Lexicon stuff (warning must have very deep pockets here) are great. Glaceverb is a great free reverb.
I think it's fair to say most Live users, even if you like Live's Reverb, should look at adding another 3rd party one.

upgrade to Suite.
careful... they also take the complications of upgrading, playing live, and troubleshooting errors up another notch too... and additional notches for each one you add in a set.JD76 wrote: All I can say is wow - I never used 3rd party plugs before and they really take my productions up another notch.
