Scanning Library (Reading Files)
Scanning Library (Reading Files)
Rebooting is overrated.
Re: Scanning Library (Reading Files)
It took me a few hours too.. Be patient, it's going to finish

Re: Scanning Library (Reading Files)
Yes, it *can* take a while especially on win systems. We´re trying to improve this.

Re: Scanning Library (Reading Files)
Christian, with all due respect, how is it that I can have a library which can be installed, all files copied, etc., in under 20 minutes take... so far... 9 hours to scan, with 16% still left (meaning I can expect 12 hours of solid scanning).
The CPU and disk I/O are at near-zero the entire time. Ableton is WAITING for stuff most of the time.
This is a debilitating bug - a showstopper literally, as I had to abandon my music work last night after what should have been a short repair ended taking the entire night, and all of this morning too.
This is on a VERY fast, new machine. Something like this can't be difficult to patch - very specific, focused functionality, very obvious effect.
Rather disappointed that apparently QA doesn't really test major features like this before release? Either that or your management thought that disabling somebodies copy of ableton randomly for half a day was acceptable?
Need a better answer now that it's over a month since your last.

Re: Scanning Library (Reading Files)
Hello StickPlayer,
Unfortunately, i can not offer you an immediate solution to this issue.
We´re aware of the fact that the library scanning on windows machines can
take a very long time and we hope to have a solution in the (hopefully) not so distant
future. We´re working on it.

Christian
