Syncing lights on the Behringer BCR2000?

Post by xristopher » Fri May 14, 2010 5:19 am

Just got the BCR2000 and it is really great. Easily syncs with Ableton. Here is my question: I have set a switch to launch clips in a channel. This works great and initially the light on the switch comes on when the clip begins. However, after the first generation of the clip the light goes out, although the clip is set to loop. The loop continues to play, but the light on the BCR2000 goes out. Ableton is sending midi signals, but why does it stop sending out this one after one turn of the loop?

I tested to see if this was a time issue, by playing a three minute song. The light stayed on for the full three minutes. It seems that when the clip plays once the midi signal sends a message to turn off the light. I need it on so I can see in the dark when I am performing (what clips are running, etc.)

Can anyone give me some advice on this? Thanks a bunch.

Two advices (I am just waking up) :

-Check the toggle mode on the BCR's switch.

-Be aware thet live outputs different velocities according to clip states : if I am not wrong : 126 when it's going to play, 127 the first time it plays, 1 when it loops, 0 when it stops.

-So maybe check the max value of the BCR's switch

Ok that's three advices but the 3rd depends on the 2nd...

Thanks, I will take a look at this before I try anything else. I have the toggle modes set to "off", so the switch is acting like a single-hit button rather than a light-switch. This works great, so that I am not pushing to start, pushing again to reset, then pushing to start once more.

The velocities thing is new to me (as I am new to midi). If I lower the velocity on the BCR to receive the lowest signal from Ableton, will that work? It looks to me like it is at 127 on the BCR, so if I set to 1 I should, theoretically, see the light? One more question: where do I find the numbers for Ableton?

Thanks again.

I am not sure, you'd better try. In fact I have no time right now, sorry !
Good luck, and post again if you're still on trouble !

Tried changing the velocity settings. There are definite built in parameters within Ableton, but I am not sure what they. Even when the switch is set to "toggle on" the light still goes out after one generation of the clip/loop.

I tried the loop set on different modes too, but this didn't seem to work. With the Launch Mode set on Toggle, the switch set to "toggle on" the light still goes out after one generation.

I am thinking that I might just have to ignore the auto-map stuff, not recognizing the BCR at all, and start from scratch. Not sure.

The light thing may sound like a small issue, but I need it for working in dark clubs, while playing a drum-kit. I need to be able to glance over and see what's up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Blessings,
Xris
