On that note, how does M-Audio have such a reputation for quality?

I have used probably 6 of their products, from audio interfaces to preamps to MIDI controllers, and every one of them has given me problems in one way or either, either in terms of not working right or offering crappy quality.

How's THAT work?

M-Audio is also so disgustingly slow at updating drivers. It's insane~

Heh. I've had the exact opposite experience with M-Audio gear. Altho I haven't gigged or anything with it.

I agree they take their time updating drivers. Was quite funny when they finally released Vista drivers for my soundcard and Windows 7 came out literally a few weeks after.

I'm currently looking for the same thing.

I have discovered you can buy a weighted key digital Piano with midi out (some have a USB output)for less than an 88 Key midi only controller.

The Yamaha P-85 http://music.yamaha.com/products/main.h ... 0018_16277
