Ronnie James Dio dead

Post by wildcon » Sun May 16, 2010 10:29 pm

I saw him with Rainbow and Black Sabbath and he was excellent.

He had a brilliant voice.

Just check out Dream Theatre's version of Stagazer on their recent album. James LaBrie huffs and puffs his way through the song and still gets nowhere near the power and control of Dio on the Rainbow original.

A real shame :(

yes, craziness... This was mentioned in another thread, but he deserves his own formal one!
Heaven and hell was my first lp that I bought 27 years ago. I also really dug his stuff with rainbow.

too bad to hear this, he really did have a great heavy metal voice, and stomach cancer is an awful way to go for anyone.

A sad day indeed. A pioneer of both big hair and rock vocals.

R.I.P. Ronnie. The world is better because of you.

\m/  \m/

Just saw "Metal, a Headbangers Journey" last month, and he was so nice in it.
Just a decent guy in general, humble enough for who he was etc.

I will never grow out of heavy music, it blows me away that people limit their musical taste to certain genres exclusively.
Not liking a music form because you feel it's for kids etc. doesn't make you grown up, it makes you old.
^^^Not directed at anyone specifically; I just don't get "growing out" of certain styles of music, to embrace new, mostly more docile and formulaic "adult" music?
Never have. :|

He died before he had to give up doing what he loved and he never compromised his art to fit any trend other than his own. Hats off to the Dio.
