Live will not work/ Laptop crash

I just had a bad laptop crash and had to completely reinstall my OS. (Windows XP) Now live wiil not work,it installs but will not run. Ableton support have asked me to delete two files which are "preferences.cfg" and " Unlock.cfg". These are both located here:

Windows: C: \documents and settings\[username]\application data\Ableton\live x.x\preferences\preferences.cfg and here:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\”username”\Application Data\Ableton\Live 8.0.X\Unlock.

The problem is both files are not in these folders so i cannot delete them(which is strange) and then re run live.I have e mailed ableton back but not yet had a reply. I just dont know what to do now,i dont really want to do another install which may not even work. I hope someone can help on this,i have not written any beats for a week!
I am running the latest version of live, 8.1.3

Just an idea, but I assume you've replaced the live version in those two folder locations to 8.1.3 and also replaced username with your usual windows username. e.g. For me (ScarKord) it would be:-

C:\Documents and Settings\ScarKord\Application Data\Ableton\Live 8.1.3\preferences\preferences.cfg

and

C:\Documents and Settings\ScarKord\Application Data\Ableton\Live 8.1.3\unlock\unlock.cfg

Hi, many thanks for your reply. I am looking in the right folders,in other words looking in the one that has my name as username. But as i mention in the application data folder both files for deleting are not there. Nothing to do with ableton is their. You mention replacing live 8.1.3 into those folder locations. Do you mean actually installing live into those folders? I am not sure exactly what you mean.

Any more help would be great.

Have you enabled showing hidden files/folders in your Windows preferences? They might not be appearing there, if they are being hidden by the OS. I can't remember where you do this in XP, or I would tell you. Google around and you'll find it pretty quick though.
