Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
I am new to Live and have been learning on 8.1.3 on (Mac). I created a song in the arrangement view using 3 midi tracks (Bass-Decider, Strings-Baroque, and Kit-SessionDryLite(TubeDelay)).
I'm having a very strange problem. All the tracks play fine together when I initially create the set, but when I save, quit, and reopen the set, the Strings-Baroque track always works for one measure and then totally stops making any sound until I quit and reopen again. The track is very simple, it only has one automation I created set to the string's vibrato. The other 2 midi tracks continue working like normal.
The midi notes are clearly still there and the signal shows up at the instrument, but nothing gets sent to the track's output in the end. Any ideas on what's going on? I am perplexed because it works fine when I make this string track from scratch, but as soon as I reopen the set later it's broken again.

Re: Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
Hello,
Does it help to reload the used Preset on the tracks?
Best,
Christian

Re: Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
Thanks for the response, Christian. Reloading the preset doesn't seem to help. Even if I make the track from scratch again (create a new midi track using the 'Baroque Strings' instrument then copy the midi note tracks into the instrument), it has the same problem. It will play one measure and then completely stop producing any sound, with the exception of the occasional note that squawks out of nowhere at unexpected times.
Sound is produced fine whenever I use a different instrument, however. Seems like it might be something wrong with the 'String - Baroque' setting itself. So not a huge problem, I will just steer clear of using that instrument in the future.

Re: Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
Im having the same problem Parker. Instrument rack -> synth strings -> strings-Baroque works at first, but continues to stop oddly. Im not sure when or why the issue occurs, but once it does i can hit each note on my midi keyboard only once before they cease to play. it SUCKS cause i like the punch of the sound and i am not sure how to recreate it. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Re: Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
I've been trippin all day about the strings-baroque acting weird. So it's definitely a glitch in live? On a side note do you know anything about connecting a yamaha cp300 to live? The sliders on it aren't syncing up withe the software sliders.
Re: Midi track stops working after quitting and restarting
I feel like there's more instruments in "synth strings" that aren't right. Does it depend on the midi device? Thoughts anyone?
