performance automation questions

Post by OriginalSpaceMan » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:29 pm

I would like to setup a live set where I can change routing, arming, midi mapping with the press of a button, or the launching of a scene. Any ideas? I think I can design a secondary system where a scene launch would send control surface commands to change arming, but changing routing and midi mapping seems even more difficult. I hope there is an easier way to do this that I haven't thought of.

Thanks guys!

Changing MIDI mapping on the fly seems harder. If you try to do this with M4L, you would presumably do something like route the MIDI into an M4L device and have it issue commands via the API. The commands that it issues in response to the MIDI events could change over time. The problem is that you'd be limited to commands that can be performed via the API, and that's a small fraction of what can be MIDI-mapped in Live itself.
