Loss of Midi

Post by index101 » Mon Jul 05, 2010 9:18 pm

Hi all

New poster here. So I eventually bought live 8 and its great but iv been having more problems with it than i ever did when using the cracked version.
The latest thing is losing midi. All of a sudden it just loses the midi signal from the controller
The other problem is it just randomly crashing saying live has encountered a problem or something

Has anyone else had these problems?
Any advice/help much appreciated

hi,
I eventually bought live 8
which version is installed? (8.1.1 or 8.1.3 or..)
All of a sudden it just loses the midi signal from the controller
which controller? Is it usb or midi to interface? Which model/company?
The other problem is it just randomly crashing
This depends on the live version and the plugIns you use. Do you use VSTIs? if yes, which?
Dou you use M4L devices?

Hi index101,

the loss of the midi signal can be caused by faulty drivers.
Make sure you have the latest drivers for the midi device installed and re-install them if necessary.

Another cause can be underpowered USB ports.
When the device gets to little power from the USB port it can turn of and on in a few milliseconds which may be ok for it's display or LEDs but might be enough for the driver to loose the connection to the device.
So, check whether it works better when you connect the device to a different USB port or a powered HUB or use an external power supply.

Also, make sure you have the latest version of Live 8 installed:
