"Copy Time" - How?
"Copy Time" - How?
One more time for the learning disabled please:
Please tell me how fast-moving Live users edit, performing a "copy time." (It is NOT in the dropdown menu)
(meaning if you have 50 tracks, and all you are able to view is 20 or so, you simply highlight a few measures on any single track, then perform this "copy time" function to copy all tracks during those measures)
If copy-time function is specifically covered in the manual (I wasn't able to find it before), please let me know which page of the .pdf)
Thanks for your patience.

Re: "Copy Time" - How?
I don't usually 'copy' time proper, but select, cut time, then undo so nothing's changed in the arrangement but the 'cut' sample is still on my clipboard. Then I'm free to paste away.
Re: "Copy Time" - How?
If you select a timespan from top track to bottom (including master) and simply copy (CMD-C), you can then paste as though you had copied time. At least as far as I have been able to tell, it doesn't miss anything that cut time gets.

--- This is working for me. I'm on Live 8.0.9. If I do "cut time" (attempting to copy by holding in buffer) and then do Control V (paste), I get mis-aligned tracks. So it's obviously not copying - pasting "time" (which would include all tracks and therefore maintain track alignment consistency).
If I'm missing something as far as this suggestion, please let me know
Please keep in mind that the reason this is particularly challenging is that my songs have TONS of tracks. So highlighting all tracks is a bit of a task.

Dealing with 50 tracks at a time. Maybe this will be a workaround until copy-time is considered a relevant feature by Ableton developers. But what is the short-cut / fast way to select measures 20-24 for all 50 tracks? I am hoping there is a super fast way.
Thanks

Re: "Copy Time" - How?
I believe (but can't verify at the moment - at work) that you have to select the topmost track and then Paste Time. The clips should then all be aligned with their respective original tracks. This is working for me. I'm on Live 8.0.9. Re: as though you had copied time
the fastest way I know of is to select the timespan in the topmost track, then use shift-downarrow (hold it down to repeat) to select the tracks below. it would be nice if this were an option alongside cut time, etc.DDCCD wrote: Dealing with 50 tracks at a time. Re: "Copy Time" - How?
cant you just copy then shift+cmd+v to past time?
Re: "Copy Time" - How?
right, but the problem is how to copy across all the tracks...stonee wrote:cant you just copy then shift+cmd+v to past time?

Re: "Copy Time" - How?
It is really a bit funny that you can duplicate time, cut time and paste time but NOT copy time... I wonder what's the reason for not implementing a function that is this basic and fundamental to a good workflow...

Re: "Copy Time" - How?
copy then ctrl+shift+paste.
still can't copy and insert time on individual tracks though, which is really annoying.

Re: "Copy Time" - How?
Select the loop brace in arrangement, right click on it, "duplicate time period".
edit, sorry you meant copy, not paste...
edit again. Select the loop brace, right click, "copy". Move the loop brace, right click, "paste".
Am i mistaken ? (just woke up....)
