Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?

I would say so
It supports a lot of different gestures a mouse would have issues with.

Re: Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
well i use a mouse to get away from trackpads...even tho apple has the best one on laptops...but still, i would not loose a mouse to this, if it works for other people then hey, it works. but for me...i like me mouses. Certain razers and logitic ftw imo.
edit*: also i use my trackpad for the gestures along side with my mouse, it works for me. I may have to go into an apple store and just give it a go.

Gestures are built into the lap pies but not to Mac pros or iMacs which is where this product will shineBleep Blop Ima Robot wrote:well i use a mouse to get away from trackpads...even tho apple has the best one on laptops...but still, i would not loose a mouse to this, if it works for other people then hey, it works. but for me...i like me mouses. Re: Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
Seems interesting. Does it work the same way the touchpads work on a mac laptop? (I have tried those, they works pretty well)
Re: Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
Ya, I prefer my ageing iBook's trackpad to the other laptops I use...
I'm still a little incredulous here... I use a trackpad when a mouse isn't practical, but a mouse is the ideal - if I could use a mouse with my laptop all the time I would.
Mice, trackballs & touchscreens with visual feedback = win.
A trackpad hooked up to my studio machine =
Going by the shpiel on apple's site, this magic trackpad is only useful for turning pages on your e-documents. Cos that's the one thing that bothers me about using computers. Changing pages is such a drag

+1
but the product is probably aimed at people who don't use their mouse intensively. If it's just for browsing the web, maybe some people will like the three finger functions, etc..
Re: Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
I hear what you are saying. I will test it out and report back.

if nothing else, you should be able to make some kind of XY kaos-pad style thing with it

Re: Apple magic trackpad - an alternative to a mouse?
The trackpad on the new MBP drives me kind of bonkers. When you pinch your fingers together or slide them apart, everything on the screen zooms. It's hand for the times that you want to zoom the screen, but the problem is that it happens by itself accidentally all of the time, and it drives me bonkers.
Also, how come no one is raving about the new Apple rechargeable AA batteries? I hear that they'll just work for for 10 years.
