CPU/ memory issues,

Post by happy123 » Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:16 pm

This was posted in another forum and was kindly informed that it wasn't the place for suggestions.. so now its here:

Please sort out the memory issues. In logic I could run 80 channels each going into at least 3 busses, huge amount of plug-ins + very full on master plugin chain etc.. with CPU only at 30%, Id be lucky to get a 10th of that power from ableton, if that. 8 channels in ableton and Im spiking at 55%.

Please sort this out as soon as you can.
Regards,
Jon

Yeah i had this issues the other day. It turned out my sound card had automatically changed lives sample rate to 192khz. Changed it back to 44.1khz 24bit and turned my buffer up a bit and then it was fine.

Thanks for the comment but.. sample rate is ok.. Im coming from using logic and there are some real serious issues with the CPU usage in ableton.

I will agree, but keep in mind that Live engine is optimized for non-stop play performance. So i think it just reserves more cpu power as backup. Remember how much your Logic stops playing and shows you "CPU Overload Message". Live will never stops to play, it can glitch but keep playing your audio. which is essential for live performance
