Launching a scene without launching one of the clips in it?

Post by cofane » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:25 pm

Is it possible to launch a scene but not launch one of the scenes within that clip until later?

thanks!
If it breakdances, does parkour and makes music it's probably me.

Duplicate the scene. Take out the clip. play them both one after the other.

or unlink the volume envelope on the clip you dont wanna hear. extend loop time, and take out the volume where you dont want it be heard.
ctrl + left/right = select transient

ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients

ctrl + space = play selection

Good tips, I use them all the time.. my main problem is I have these clips layin around that I trigger as one shots..

So normally I would need an entirely blank scene for each one of these that I want - instead it'd be nice to have a clip property like "do not launch on scene launch" so they'd only launch when you do it manually (per clip)

I propose a "Launch By:" menu in the Session Clip View. The options would be: All (default), Scene and Follow. MIDI-launch, mouse-launch & key-launch assignments on the clip would all work the same as they do now regardless of the setting.

@outersphongolia -

as a workaround could you not use groups instead of scenes and keep your one shots outside of the group......then use scenes only when you want to make an automatic tempo change? or are you on a version before the introduction of groups? or maybe restricted by the controller you're using to launch your groups/clips/scenes?

it's not really the horizontal real estate it's the vertical - if that makes any sense.

I have an extra track in my set (track 1 actually) for one shots or just triggering pewpew's and swooshes, but they need their own scene, because their launch quantize is "none - trigger" so if they were on a scene with the rest of the loops the one-shots would get triggered AS SOON as I hit the scene, not in time with the rest of them, but I DONT WANT them the come in with the rest of them, I want to trigger that clip on my own ONLY when I hit it manually with the clip launch button on the APC..

It's not THAT bad making a new scene,, but it'll be like 2 scenes that are full of loops that make a full beat, and then 3 scenes below, that only have one shots on ONE track - can't have them underneath loops that are already playing or else they get stopped.. and NO drum racks don't work because these need to be warped and time stretched or w/e you wanna call it.

It's not a deal breaker - but it's lookin like a feature many people would use in different ways.. Maybe someone wants certain clips to ONLY be launched by follow actions, or ONLY on manual presses instead of scene launch.. and it would just be an easy option inside of clip properties..
