There is a much easier way:

ableton.com -> Downloads -> Live Packs -> Live 7 Legacy

Or download directly here:
http://downloads.ableton.com/packs/80/L ... y_v8.1.zip

If you have problems or feedback about the Live 8 Library, feel free to get in touch with support@ableton.com

Best, Daniel

*shrug*

I'm digging the old lawnmower image on your blog page, though. Kinda lonely and creepy and forgotten looking in the tall grass. At least that's something.
I came for the

Why does no one care that they completely shaft you if you are just getting into Live 8 now? Were they afraid the extra 73 MB on the download would ruin people's hard drive space? I doubt it. I think they want you to buy the Suite.

And why is no one asking questions about why you get 8 shitty controls on all the Instrument Racks now? And as a result, you can only edit your preset instruments if you on the Suite because they are all based on Analog or Operator. Fuck that. Sorry, but Ableton really fucks you over on a lot of things for marketing purposes. At least that's what it seems like to me.

Thanks from here, too. And while I'm at it, may I suggest a topic for your next blog: the hideously hidden flaws of Live sound engine, which, in fact, is inferior to that of PT's. Let the world know, how Ableton is BS:ing us!

The Live 8 library has a different naming scheme and sorting than the Live 7 library. How is having the option to install it afterward equal to being shafted?

That is an easy one. Because Novation once released a shitty controller with 8 knobs. And people aren't done copying them yet.

They let you play with the sounds of instruments you don't own? The bastards!
Ah the good old days of Live 7, where presets of Instruments you don't own just remained invisible, just taking up space.

Anyone remember the guy offering the DJ with Live tutorial?

"Step 1 download the top 15 electro tracks form beatport" then he smokes a grass pipe in the bloody tutorial video

The original is gone but the tribute lives on

Wow abbey1, nice work, you offered us an alternative way to download stuff that Ableton still offers for free on their site. Awesome. Hey perhaps you could also host some free Kore packs that Native Instruments give away completely free on their site and tell everyone how they shafted us too.

And you're also complaining that Ableton now let you use the suite presets completely free? And that's shafting you? If you're idea of getting shafted is be allowed to download the same stuff you always could and have free presets for things you don't own, you must have a very difficult time getting by in life.
