Soundcards to use: Lexicon Omega?

Hi all..
I just took my new SB audigy back to the store so i could buy a lexicon omega for four times the price...

has anyone had any experience with these? it seems my au$179 audigy offered 20ms latency, 5 output channels (well 2 usable stereo outputs) and effectively 2 mono inputs (split line in)
1 midi joystick input.... (which can be added to by simply plugging in any number of cheap ass soundblasters for the joystick port)

the au$700 omega on the other hand offers 20ms latency.. 4 mono line inputs (2 stereo inputs) which seem to only be usable when you select them (aka 1 stereo line in at a time.. saves you the trouble of unplugging one device and plugging in a new)
One output... with a faux monitor output which is really whatever goes in the inputs fed straight back through to the output....
2 standard midi inputs....
admittedly it seems to be a little more capable of handling loads of FX, but not *that* much more....

unless i'm seriously missing something... ah.. why am I paying au$700 for an external box which seems to do less than an au$179 audigy?

can anyone suggest a good set up to get going? I can't very well mix a live set without being able to monitor stuff i'm cueing up.... short of an omega epiphany, i'd say i'm about to become $700 richer and in need of a sound card... i need low latency and the ability to load up several tracks with guitar rig without it sh*tting itself....

Something from Echo,or maybe M-Audio,or since you have $700 to spend,RME.What does Lexicon know about PC audio cards? Apparently not much.

I remember the Lexicon Core2 soundcard, I owned one for about a day, then I realized that there were only 2 latency settings-high and low, the drivers were complete shit and Lexicon never fixed them. I knew a $700 card for $149 seemed to good to be true. I would go with one of the major soundcard companies like Echo or Maudio.
