Internal MIDI to control scene launch

Hi!
Remote control and controlling scene launch I understand.
But what if I want a simple midi clip inside Live with only some ctrl data to MIDI map to scene launch? Looping or editing the MIDI ctrl curve while the MIDI mapping is active does not make the track launch button recognize the ctrl.
A workaround, I thought, was to route the midi ctr out to Midi Yoke and in again, as an external midi source, but that does not seem to work either.
Suggestions?
