Ableton will not recognize MicroKORG
I am trying to hook up my Korg MicroKORG to my version of Ableton (v7.0.14), through an E-MU XMidi1X1 tab (midi to usb cable). However, whenever I go into Live -> Prefrences the E-MU XMidi1x1 tab is listed under Midi Ports and the track is turned on, yet the Key/Midi In Indicator does not light up whenever a key is pressed. Is there something else I must do in order for it to recognize my MicroKORG? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am new to Ableton Live and still have much to learn.

did you leave your midi interface connected and restart Live? - worked for me sometimes

well, it should work with the E-MU (as I read on the Korg Forum); you don't have an audio interface with midi by any chance to test? are you sure the midi cable is o.k.; do you have other midi gear to hook up with the Xmidi to test if it works? is the Xmidi plgged directly into the USB port?

Hi there! Check out this article for advice on setting up your pc for audio:

Good luck!
Edit: Oops - wrong thread (I never thought I would make that mistake . . . I guess I shouldn't drive and drink and text and eat fries and post on the forum at the same time.)

There is a MIDI-Section on the MicroKORG, I'm not at home atm, but there may be something that could be useful for you!

Re: Ableton will not recognize MicroKORG
Still not working. There is a light on the E-MU XMidi1x1 Tab that lights up whenever it is hooked up to the computer and it is doing that, I do not own any other devices though in order to test out if the cable is okay. I assume that it is though since there is an LED being lit up whenever it is plugged in (Although that wouldn't really account for there being a short in the cable or some other problem). I have switched the MicroKorg to the Midi slot under Edit Select 2, but it still does not even report anything coming in to Ableton. I am wondering if I still have something left to do in Ableton before it can recognize the microkorg? I have gone to preferences -> Midi and turned the device on and I have even created a new Midi channel and selected the E-MU Tab under the, "Midi From" section and even changed the channels. I am just not sure what is wrong, the cable was purchased brand new so I am not sure if that is really the problem but have no way to test it out.
If I were to have to purchase a new Midi cable in order to test out if the cable works properly or not, can somebody please suggest a decent working cable for me to purchase?
Thank you to everyone who has replied so far! It is nice to know people care to help out others on this forum!

Re: Ableton will not recognize MicroKORG
It sounds like you have Ableton set up right. My guess would be that the MicroKorg is not configured correctly for sending MIDI. As vicz said, this can be as simple as having the cable going into the output port (or coming in on the input port on the MicroKorg - an easy mistake to make).
Good luck.
