*GASP!!!!* @ the thought of being able to edit (and WARP) video to audio. Rather than the traditional audio to video.re.mark wrote:no. use a dedicated vx editing programme for that. use Live for editing audio to video.

i agree with the OP. Or ableton could create a separate prog that ties basic video editing to Live...seemlessly.
Re: Upgrade the Video editing
Live is (already) an incredible environment for doing basic cutting of video to audio. There's a tutorial on the web somewhere where someone shows one possible workflow for using this with real video editing software later in the chain. Basically, you create several video tracks with the basic cuts in place, i.e., getting the timing of the cuts right using Live, and render each of these video tracks out. These tracks have overlapping portions where you will ultimately apply some kind of fade or blend. Then import into an effects program / editor for applying effects, fades, etc. Seems to me like there's not much point in adding a few basic video effects to Live when you will almost certainly want a full-blown package to apply proper effects and do more detailed operations on the video like color correction etc. But for the basic cutting of say a music video, it's already very good.

Re: Upgrade the Video editing
I'd love to see fading video as an option. I've looked at Live, but not yet bought it, but this would definitely seal the deal for me. i've found no other software out there that allows simultaneous midi and video editing except for Mixcraft, which doesn't seem to work too well at this point, and possibly a very expensive version of ProTools which of course doesn't have a free trial.
By the way the above suggestion of exporting a video into a dedicated video editor to add fades isn't a good option because crossfades would not be possible where hard edits had already been used. There would be no overlapping frames left to crossfade if you see what I mean.
