Hi guys,
Just bought Live earlier this week and so I'm a 1st time forum member. Apologies in advance if this has been covered - i couldn't find it through search.
Basically, I generally leave my iMac on (i let it sleep instead of shutting down and turning on each time I want to use my iMac). What I've noticed is that when I leave it on and start Live, Live is very very sluggish and is basically unusuable. I have to restart the iMac and when I open Live it seems to run butter smooth.
Is this normal? All my other programs dont seem to have this same problem.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

Re: Must restart iMac for Live to operate normally
I know there will be folks who disagree with me, but I never allow my computers to go into sleep mode. And I never let them stay on. I don't think it's good for the internal componants. Especially the iMac since it run very hot! The heat coming off mine is very noticable. Much more so than a PC.
I had a computer once that would go into sleep mode after an hour or so and when I went back to use it, the hard drive never "woke up". The drive was fried and I lost vital information.
Might be a coincidence, but I don't like the idea of things shutting down temporarily and then have to be jossled awake by a mouse movement.

more info about sleeping:

@vjkmxe: it´s not a known or common issue. Do you have anything attached to your mac (audio interface/MIDI interface etc.)
Best,
Christian

Re: Must restart iMac for Live to operate normally
@SoniCanvas - im experimenting with the idea of leaving it on. Ive read plenty of articles suggesting that the iMac was basically designed to be able to sleep for long periods of time. Apparently its better for the internal components - when you fire up iMac something about an electrical surge throughout the system actually wears down the components faster than if you let it sleep. so far so good for me! but im being careful - keeping valuable files on an external which i do unplug and turn off when i let me iMac sleep
@kleine - nothing out of the ordinary - i have a i-Onix interface, a couple of MIDI controllers, ethernet plug, external harddrives (which ive already tried plugged and unplugged). i havent tried unplugging all of these yet - but surely this cant be at fault?
