A different Live approach - Please Stay

Post by tehsuk » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:12 pm

I should first mention I love Ableton Live for how it doesn't hinder the creative process, but actually promotes it. I tried so many other options (Voyetra way back in the day, Cakewalk awhile back, Sonar, Logic, and more), but Ableton had the interface I could easily/logically/efficiently manage and navigate not to mention hardware compatibility. When I'm feeling creative, I don't want my software to block me trying to figure out how to get something down or manage it, and Live works so well for me in that regard. I use Live with instrumentation, synthesized on occasion, but mostly attempting to recreate a realistic sound of a band. I sequence Addictive Drums for percussion and Reason Electric Bass refill for the bass guitar while playing acoustic and electric guitar.

Anyway, thought I'd open up to some comments/criticism from the community. It's not perfect, but hope you enjoy it.

Cool stuff man. You've achieved a really clear and polished sound. Good job.

Did you mix and master this yourself? Sounds really pro.

Thanks, and yes, I did everything myself using only Live plugins... EQ8/Compressor/Reverb for the instrument tracks with Multiband Dynamics and Limiter on the master. I can't really say I know what I'm doing on the mixing/mastering side of things, but Live makes it fun and easy to try different approaches while learning.

I love the vocal. I think it's good enough to be even dryer- the reverb for me is a little overcooked but this is a beautiful song whatever.
Thanks for sharing.
