APC40 emulation and combination mode for FCB1010 & others
Hey all,
I've put together a MIDI remote script which allows the FCB1010 to work in combination mode with the APC40. It can also be used as a generic APC40 emulator - compatible with pretty much any MIDI controller - and the mappings are customizable.
There's a new article describing the detailed workings on the main page of my blog, and the file download link can be found on the support files page. My APC40_22 script has also been updated to include support for combination mode.
Let me know if you find any bugs.
Best,
Hanz

Oh, that's just nice and nice.
Do you know if the sysex dump process is the same with UnO firmware upgrade?

I've just ordered a Line 6 FBV Shortboard MKII and am anxious to see how it will work in conjunction with my APC40.
I'm curious if your script could be useful(or would even be modifiable) in my setup?

@UKRuss: I believe that an FCB1010 with UnO firmware is ready to receive sysex at any time, and no special pedal manipulation is required - just click "Dump" in Live and you're done. However, you might want to back up your current settings first - the Ripwerx editor is great for this kind of thing (Windows only, unfortunately).
@CR78: It looks like the Line 6 FBV series sends MIDI CC messages only (no option for Note On/Off messages). At present, my FCB1020 script is set up to handle Note On/Off messages, for everything except the expression pedals, so you'd probably need to use MIDI-Ox or Bomes to translate CCs to Notes to get it working. I could probably add a customization option to handle CCs, if there was sufficient interest.
Best,
Hanz

Thanks Hanz for the info.
I would gladly pay you if you could incorporate this into the script.
Thanks

I've added a customization option to handle controllers which use MIDI CC messages for buttons/pads. Should now work with Line 6 FBV series and other controllers which cannot send Note On/Off messages (with the limitation that in CC mode, button/pad assignments and slider/pedal assignments need to be on different channels). Thanks to CR78 for the compatibility suggestion.

Oh wow.
I haven't read through all of your articles yet, but from glancing over them, if I understand correctly, this means essentially ANY midi controller can be made to act with/as an APC40?

@Silverfish: Yes, pretty much any controller can be made to emulate and/or work in combination mode with the APC40, using this script.
@ST8: Thanks man - a high compliment, coming as it does from the master himself! :)

Forgive my ignorance.....but what is "Combination Mode"?

Re: APC40 emulation and combination mode for FCB1010 & others
Combination Mode refers to linking two or more session highlight zones (red box, yellow box, etc.), so that they work and move together. The best know example is combination mode for the APC40/APC20 , where the APC20's session highlight automatically sets up right next to the APC40's session highlight, and they move together.
With my FCB1020 script, combination mode is used to allow the FCB1010 to launch clips within the APC40's session highlight area and follow the red box's movements. It can also be used to move the red box remotely, in which case the APC40 will follow and not lose focus.
As mentioned above, the FCB1020 script can be used with pretty much any MIDI controller, and will also allow that controller to work in combination mode with the APC40.
Best,
Hanz

Works like a charm btw, brilliant! A new lease of life for the fcb in me studio now. Great work!
