I hope somebody can help.
I have just got a Dave Smith Mopho keyboard and I want to record it in Ableton. So I am able to record midi notes and have them play back the synth. Now I would like to tweak and record the filter cutoff frequency while I hear the notes playing back. I am doing this in arrangement view by having the midi clip with the notes on say track 1 over 32 bars, and then recording the filter frequency knob movements on a new track (say 2) that is sending the midi information to the synth playing back on track 1. I am able to tweak the filter but what is happening is that because the filter cc envelope in the clip on track 1 is set to full, it keeps resetting my frequency knob movements to 164 value (filter fully opened). If I “draw” the envelope off I get a reset to zero or any level that the envelope is set to.
I hope I have explained that clearly enough. Am I missing something obvious, how can I record the knob movements without the clip envelope resetting the filter frequency continuously to whatever level it is at?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Need help recording a hardware synth
Hey! How did you connect your mopho to ableton?
I run the editor, and after that I cannot select my "midi out" in the "external instrument" so I'm not able to send MIDI data back to mopho.
The MIDI out from my sound card turns yellow instead of black (It turns black again only changing the port from Directsound to MME port) anyways MOPHO can't receive any message from live = (
The midi out from my soundcard is available in the External instrument only if the MOPHO editor is off so it doesnt sound either.
any clue or advice?
Cheers

Re: Need help recording a hardware synth
I connect via USB which means the editor won't work as it is midi only. I haven't quite worked out the issue in my original post, sometimes it works ok and sometimes not.
It sounds like the editor is taking control of your soundcard. Maybe there is a setting for multi client? Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: Need help recording a hardware synth
I've just adquired recently my MOPHO and don't have any previous experience with hardware devices so I'll be trying this weekend also with a MAC OS (to avoid this MME-SoundDirect issue).
I'll back to the post when finding the proper setup.
Thank you!

Re: Need help recording a hardware synth
i realy would like to know this as well
I use a microkorg and can record the MIDI notes in just fine.....but as posted above....going back and adding knob movements is hit or miss and I am unsure why it resets......any info would be great.
