Something isn't working right for me on an install of Live 8. The demo I run on my laptop (Live 8, not Suite) has all kinds of preset instruments and devices in the Live Devices menu, but the full version I am installing on my desktop has nothing. Nothing appears in the 'Instrument Rack' menu, but the demo version is chock full of things to choose from. What am I doing wrong?

Well, hopefully this will help anyone else running into the problem. I went ahead and deleted all things Live from my HDD and started over. This time, before authorizing, upgrading or installing any other content, I just let Live open and do what it needed to do. This allowed it to extract and install all the packages that apparently belong in the Live Devices folder because now it's all there. And even more was there after the 8.1.5 upgrade. I'm now going through and installing the other content from the install disks (i.e., the Cycling 74 and EIC content). I did NOT install the Suite folder this time, although it still seems some Suite content is installed no matter what. When navigating the Library, Analog, Collision, Tension and all the other 'Suite Only' instruments are there with a handful of presets. I'm assuming if I tried to open them, I'd get the error that they are not compatible with my version of Live.

Same here. Seems like all the content, grooves, plug-in presets, etc., are missing from the latest version of Live.

See my post above. Following that process resulted in everything being installed that belongs there in the Live Devices menu.
