live8 very slow drawing audio waves for tracks in arrangement view when opening live set....
Hello all,
I have 10+ tracks of recorded audio and each track is fairly long (~ 1 hour).
When I open the live set ( using 8.1.5 ), it takes a dramatically long time for the arrangement view to draw the audio waves in each track. ( 1-2 hours ).
Live is not using a lot of CPU or hitting the disk very hard during this time.
( CPU stays in the range of 2%-30% )
Any suggestions on how to speed this up?
Thanks!

Re: live8 very slow drawing audio waves for tracks in arrangeme
how fast is your hard drive? i'm guessing that's where your biggest delays are going to be.
if it's a platter sata drive and you're loading massive wav/aiff files that'll slow things down immensely. or are they mp3s being decoded on the fly? kinda the same thing thing if they're mp3s being decoded (converted to wavs in live's cache folder)
a solid state drive would possibly be a speed improvement depending on what the actual issue is as the read times on these drives are blazingly fast compared to older ide/sata drives because they're not seeking data on a disk/platter but reading straight from flash memory.
