(pretty sure all of these have been mentioned elsewhere.. but these are all things that personally affect me)
Production:
-Automation Quantize and Snap to grid - why is this not there?!! - using the draw tool to enter it and then editing it completely is a time consuming way to do things!
and sucks if you record some data from your midi controller
-Automation cleanup - remove unnecessary points from a messy automation recording from a controller, simplifies it down for easier editing
-Automation "clips" (reason4 style) - that can be dragged between sections or tracks with ease
having the option to name and colour them too would be nice.
-Automation stretch (like the note stretch thing in midi clips)
-Macro knobs to control external midi CC# commands
perhaps when grouping an external midi instrument device to an instrument rack.
currently i dont think this can be done.
would be very useful for people controlling external hardware or using IAC driver hacks
-cascading group tracks...
i like group tracks, but it would be awesome if you could cascade them.. like you can with effect racks or like the folder tracks in Reaper
-be able to put a VSTi on a folder track (a minor one really)
would be useful/tidy for people using multitimbral plugins such as VirusControl or Kontakt
have the plugin on the group track, then have the midi tracks feeding it under the group.
maybe then if cascading groups were allowed, you could have extra audio returns from the plugin grouped
but really, putting the plugin on the first track in a group is no big deal.
Live performance:
i love macroknobs and chains
i know you can define the max and min value for a parameter being controlled by a macroknob
but i wish i could map that parameter over only a certain range of a macroknob
eg. like those dj desks that have a single knob controlling a lowpass filter for half its range and a highpass for the other, bypass at 12o'clock
or make it easy to do Moldover style " smartknobs"
my brothers guitar amp uses a few knobs divided into quarters to control some fx
while not as comprehensive as having a dedicated knob per parameter... it works well
this is great when you dont want to use 100's of knobs or 100's of 'pages' on your midi controller, and is very invaluable in live performance.
looks like i'm going to have to learn how to program Max or Reaktor to get this done how i want :/
Dj'ing:
i thought i've give dj'ing a go in this program (i know it was never designed for this, but many people do it from what i read...but these 2 things are what stuck out)
-Clip pause - why is this not there?!?!
-multiple cue points in a clip - preslicing them is messy, requires more work beforehand and stops fun things from being done on the fly.. something this program is usually set out to encourage
-[fastforward]/[rewind] or better yet [jump forward a beat]/[jump back] a beat midi assignable buttons
Thankyou for reading!
anyone feel more than welcome to correct any innaccuracies in my post..
..if it can already do some of these things.. then great! please show me how
keep up the good work on this program, for every thing that annoys me, there's 10 that make me smile
