Solo AND Cue??

Post by p00dle » Sun Sep 26, 2010 5:52 pm

Dear Abletoners.

I'm relatively new to ableton. I have bought an APC40 and done some DJing and i have now been faced with a problem:

When I'm DJing i use mute and solo alot, infact i use solo way more than mute. Arm-record however i dont use at all.
Now i've come to a situation where i also have to be able to listen to a track in my headphones to make sure i know where i am in the second track.

So how do i use both solo and cue in a live set? To be able to have cue on the otherwise useless record buttons on the apc40 would be great but just being able to use both simultaneously would be enough!!

And if this is impossible could someone please explain to me why! Why would the program have such a weird limitation!? This is really beyond my understanding...

Sorry for the rant :D

not sure how to help you, but my problem with solo/cue is that they are NOT recorded as automation..

So if you setup a DJ template and try to global record a set - you'll be "printing" anything that you CUE into your set - which is NOT what you want - obviously..

Why don't u try to use a return track routed to a separate hardware output. Send the track u want by turning the send knob. you can also select it to be prefader at the master output track.
