Pops Crackles Sudden Stops Windows 7
Pops Crackles Sudden Stops Windows 7
Hi all,
I have Pops Crackles Sudden Stops Windows 7 since some time. In the beginning everything worked fine. Sometimes it seems like the whole system is blocked for like 5 seconds.
The moment I switch from asio to directx/mme there are no issues which would suggest a ASIO problem. I had it happen with Firepod AND Stealth.
I also noticed that when I put Firefox in the Foreground there are no issues.
I use a dualboot with XP. On XP everything is fine.

Hmmm. So you mean that when Firefox is open fullscreen over Live it works? Does this work with any program when it's running fullscreen over Live?enzmusic wrote:I also noticed that when I put Firefox in the Foreground there are no issues.
If this is true then it could be a video driver problem.
If your problems started after installing newer drivers for your video card (either by yourself or from Windows Update) then you can always go back to the older ones and see if this fixes the problem. In Win7 and Vista you can easily go to Device Manager, right-click on the video adapter and choose rollback driver.

It works also with other Programs in the foreground.
I updated and uninstalled the video-driver of my GeForce Go 7600 today. Both with no result.
One more reason it could be the video driver is that I get lots of crackle when changing the size of the Live devices window.

SOLUTION
The Problem is solved.
1. Right-click on the icon for your Firepod in the taskbar
2. A menue will open: choose CPU
3. In the submenue chooose High.
By default it was set on "medium".
After doing this, the problem was GONE.

Weird. You'd think the default setting would be High on a professional audio device. It's nice when the solution is something simple like that
