New Song - Dark Dance/Electronic.
Re: New Song - Dark Dance/Electronic.
hey deanc2000 are you a fan of fischerspooner / lcd soundsystem / coldcut ?
my 23cents: i love the vocals - they fit well but the track's a waaaaay too overcompressed -- the levels duck too heavily under the kick. also, the track lacks dynamics as a result - it has the potential to go from gentle to powerful, but it seems level and that takes away from it. I'd say give your overall compression and your kick (sidechain?) compression another think. the pizzicato touches are great.
congrats on getting it out tho. what's your setup?

Re: New Song - Dark Dance/Electronic.
Thanks for the input Pravda,
I agree now that you point it out, that it could be more dynamic...dynamically, so less side chain compression to the percussion.
I was actually trying to emulate New Order, had the songs "Shellshock" and "State of the Nation" in mind as i was composing it.
My set up: For this song I used Reason 5/Record 1.5.
I'm kind of interchanging between DAWs at this time and I'll compose one song solely in Ableton, then another song solely in Reason/Record, then another song solely in Reaper. I've actually added a 4th DAW, Logic 9, to the mix, so I'll be busy learning how to compose in that environment soon.
What's your setup?
Dean.

Re: New Song - Dark Dance/Electronic.
evolution controller keyboard, edirol ua-25 soundcard & a bunch of instruments (Artisan electric violin, acoustic guitar, blah blah)
this week i'm layering some violin for a track called "Fall" by kalih - one of the users i met on this forum. i constantly contribute to other people's tracks cos violin's so rare in the DJ / production world, it's always welcome! it's "open-source music" --> i'll send out a link in the promote forum when its done.
l8r guy, enjoy the beats.
