Sample playback direction and ping-pong

Post by LamptonWorm » Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:34 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick question..

When I drag a wav into a clip, and hit play, can I, in real time, trigger via CC for the sample playback direction to change? Same question for the playback speed and pitch at current position within the sample.

I only way I've seen so far is to use a VSTi but I'm wondering if it can be done native, for stability and simplicity.

In other packages I've seen a similar idea where you can snap a ping pong end bracket to current playback position, or in others just hit a 'rev' button. I know there is a 'rev' on the clip, but I don't want to pre-sample a rev'd version, needs to be real time change of playback direction.

I've got Launchpad Edition, so no groups, sampler etc.

Ps. when I talk about realtime, I mean I can send a CC mid way through the sample playing, say 2 seconds into a 4 second sample, then it plays backwards from that point in the direction of the start of the sample.

Ideas welcome :)

Cheers,
LW.

What you're describing can be done in Sampler.

As to doing this in a clip, the best way to do this would be to set up two duplicate clips, have one of them reversed, and then set up follow actions so that the reversed clip plays a certain amount of time after the original clip.

Thanks for replying. I'm still saving up to go from launchpad-edition to standard 8, let alone another 100 quid for sampler, to do something fairly basic.

Cheers,
LW.
