Monitoring Thu Live

I apologize in advance for the stupid question. I'm sure it exists here but I can't figure out how to phrase the query to get the right thread.

Basically my problem is that while monitoring a live performance (ie recording a vocal or guitar part) I hear a mix of pre and post effect/processed sound. I would like to just hear processed. For example, when recording guitar I hear some of the sound with software reverb and distortion with a louder clean sound (guitar and preamp) over the top. This not only makes the recorded sound much louder than it will actually be in the mix but is an obvious disadvantage bc im recording/performing with a different tone than will show up on playback.

What button am I missing? My input scheme is everything through a Saffire Pro 10 firewire in.

If you just want to hear the sound processed through Live, then turn "Monitor" all the way down on your interface.
