link asd files to mp3 files - dj'ing with itunes as library

Post by erijkgabriel » Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:45 pm

I'm using iTunes as a library for dj'ing with ableton

I'm trying to automate something so I can freely change files in iTunes and if i do so I'd like to have the asd files change with them, so they keep in sync.

for example, if i change a trackname in itunes the filename of this track will change as well. With that ableton won't automatically link the asd file since it still goes under the old filename.
another example: if i didn't have an album name assigned to some tracks in iTunes. these tracks will go to the unknown album folder of the specific artist. When I later do add an album name the folder in which the track resides will change to the album name, but the asd file is left in the unknown album folder.

I'm not very good in automating folder actions (for mac os x). So I am wondering if somebody figured this out already.
I think of a folder action, which will link the mp3 file to its asd file, and when it notices change to the mp3 (whether it is the file name or location), it will change the asd file as well (to its new name and/or location/folder). This to keep the mp3 and asd in sync when changing stuff in iTunes.

actually i found a script for another application which would do the job according to its description, but I do not know how to use it
here is the link to it: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12441

Can somebody help me with this. That'd be great

Erik
