Ableton 8 double-install

Hi,

Anybody know if you can have two versions of Ableton installed on the same computer without databases and dlls etc. getting confused? I'm on 8.1.1 at the moment and want to install the upgrade, but there's no backward compatability (again!).

I once saw a crazy guy having version 5, 6, 7 and 8 in the same computer, but I don't see why you want to have many installations. If you give us more information, we can help you better.

As for the backward compatibility, the download page reminds you that Live now is using a new format for files:
"In version 8.1.3, Live introduced a new file format. Documents saved with version 8.1.3 or newer cannot be opened in versions of Live older than 8.1.3.".

Maybe this new format is what is causing you the backward compatibility, but believe me, this format is better.
