accapella-izing plugins?

Post by deepdjdanny » Sat Oct 19, 2002 5:01 am

I think it was pandora forensic was some software associated with either sonicworx or prosoniq.
It supposedly could render an accappella from complex music and vocals.
Is there any plugin, built-in channel preset, software, does/will Live go anywhere near this yet?

Sounds like you're looking for a vocoder?

hi there deepdjdanny

i have looked into this about a year ago, and some of the boys at destry fx were kind enough to make up it as a vst for me with my theory for accapelizing, it was called acapellizer.

it did not work, sorry.

I can explain,

to get the reverse effect from a mix is quite easy to do, like if you want a karoake mix. well you just mathmatecially L-R and you will get everything that is not centre-panned. so it REMOVES vocals (and usually the bass) without a hitch due to phase cancellation. (most mixes have these centre panned)

Doing the reverse is actually a very complex thing.. i have a french audio-software designer who spent money and time to solve it, not easily/ cleanly possibly AFAIK

sorry guys, and yes, the only way to really do it would be some kind of vocoder code, basically mulstiply common frequencies and then get the square root of their amplitudes.

phase is a real problem here.

if you solve it, you may be very successful, cheers,
