Sampling from Vinyl with Live?

I've heard that it's best to to use a 3rd party application to record your samples and then import them into a live set. Is this true, and why or why not? What application would you recommend? Thanks!

I don't see what's wrong with doing it in Live? You could use another program if you want but it shouldn't make a difference.
