EvilEvil's guide to maximum Lunchpad effect!
Greetings, my friends!
I see lots has been happening during my travels lately! This makes me happy – to see the community evolvolating and devilopping! It puts a big, big smile on my face!
I would like to take som time talking to you about all the new audio techniques that I have been devilopping since my last time here! I will posting this also in your new Loungee (I hope it is not for only Loungee musics!)
All right! Let us beginn!
First of all, let me say you need some Lunchpads for this lesson! Sadly, I can only use 12 Lunchpads on two computers, but if you can have more, you should go for it! They are daisy-chaining, and work well together! If you have more computers and Lunchpads, you also have more processing powers and more buttons to press! And this is important! If you are right-handed, you can turn your Lunchpads upside down, so that the USB cable is not on the same side as your mouse! (In a live setting, I recommend trackpad, but for studio use, upside down Lunchpads are OK!) Just remember that the total number of Lunchpads must be even!
OK. We have now set up our Lunchpads, I trust? Good, then we can begin. For this lesson, you should first make your song in Digital Perofmer. This is a good start, but you can play some notes in Live's session view first (but don't dither before importing to Digital Perofmer – it is important for the first steps!). All right, now you've made your multitracks in DP; now put all your favourite effects on the Digital Perofmer, and render. This render is now important into Cubaese, for its internal processing. Export from Cubaese, and you are ready for the reimport to Live! This is where all the Lunchpad effects come in handy! You can chop all your audio files now, and play them on you Lunchpad buttons. If you have many Redux effect units to spare, you can now put them on your master track. That sound pretty good, but if you want to impress your audience, you need also to put Waves mastering plugins on top, just turn all parameters to max – this allways has a positive response on the dancefloors!
Don't be worried, if you don't own all theses DAWs – they can be bought in various online shops – very easy!
