when i want to update to a new version of ableton live suite through ableton's website it gives me a full version of the programme, including all the samples and instruments which i already have. i then have to erase the previous version of the programme and make sure my library is transferred properly to the new version of the programme. as a mac user im used to programmes updating themselves, adding or changing necessary elements without manual transfers, etc.
am i doing something wrong? is there a way to update ableton from within the programme?

Select "program only" when downloading. Note that if you're updating to the current version from any version before Live 8.2, you'll want to get the "with sounds" download, as there are changes to the Library.

can you delete previous version of live that is on hard drive after you have updated to the the version?
