Mapping out the Xone 4D

Post by Danny_K » Wed Nov 24, 2010 2:03 am

Hello every one.

I just unpacked my 4D and I will try to explain what I want done as best I can.

So If im DJing in live I usually have 4 audio tracks open with different songs etc... Now on the 4d we have 4 main audio channels my question is How do I assign audio track to channel one and audio track 2 to channel 2 and so on.

So far I can only get all the audio tracks to come out of channel 1 and its not really working out for me that way.also is it possible to assign midi functions on the main mixer portion or is that strictly audio.

I went to Allen and Heaths site but it doesn't seem to be having much going on there

the Xone 4d has its own sound card, assign each audio track to it’s own audio channel (the 4d provides an audio interface with many audio channels). In the “audio out” section of each Ableton Live track, route the audio to a channel in the 4d.

If you want to use your own external audio interface like Native Instruments’ Audio 8 DJ or M-audio’s Profire, you will have to do what I wrote above but assign the audio 4 separate audio channels. Than using cables you route the audio from the external audio interface to its on channels in the back of the 4D.

I hope this helps its easyer to show you in person the write it. But in the end of the day you will need 4 dedicated audio channels on your audio interface to replicate 4 decks.
