importing audio from logic

Post by tony spilane » Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:40 pm

Hi there
I have been trying to import individual drum audio tracks into live from logic for further editing.
When i import them the warping makes them all out of sync I guess because some track don't start at 1.1.1 i.e the snare
is there a way to resolve this?

In cases where the auto-Warping isn't quite correct, you'll want to go in and manually adjust it. You can learn more on how to do this in the Live manual: http://www.ableton.com/pages/downloads/manuals

To import stems reliably into Live from other DAWs such as Logic etc, follow these 3 steps:

A) render ALL the files from Logic starting at 1.1.1.1 (which may include lots of "dead air" at the front, but this can easily be trimmed once imported into Live)

B) turn OFF "Auto-warp long samples" in Live's Preferences > Record/Warp/Launch, BEFORE you import the stems into Live.

C) set Live's project tempo to the known tempo of the stems BEFORE you drag them into Live.

This will make the stems reliably match the grid on Live's arrange page. Now you can turn warping on manually for each stem (and set the most appropriate Warp mode for each type of audio material) and they will all behave properly.
