I am a new Live user. Unfortunately, I experience few problem:
- Live won't start, and hangs at splash screen
- Ableton won't load a live set
- Ableton won't be play
I see these problems most of the times, but not always and couple of times I was successful in having it working (but everytime with the same setup).
My setup is the following:
- Toshiba Satellite
- Windows Vista 32-bits (fresh install)
- MOTU Ultralite MK3 Hybrid (using USB, connected to one laptop port)
- SpeedLink USB hub (connected to a second USB laptop port)
- AKAI MPD32 (connected to the SpeedLink hub)
- Prodipe MIDI interface (connected to the Speedlink)

Here's the sequence I switch on stuff:
1 - switch on keyboards
2 - make USB connections to laptop
3 - boot laptop
4 - switch on Ultralite
5 - start Cuemix (Ultralite's mixer GUI)
6 - start Live
7 - set up Audio+MIDI preferences in Live
8 - Load live set
9 - Start a clip or the arrangement (sorry, I'm not yet so familiar with Live's terminology)
It typically fails at steps 7, 8 or 9.
Loading Live sets takes forever, and sometimes does not work at all (Live hangs while loading and I have to kill it and reboot the laptop)
After loading, and you click the ply button on some clips, they will become active, but it's actually not playing (and the time marker is not moving).
In this case, if you try clicking the stop button, the play button will NOT become inactive.
Switching to MME/DirectX in the Audio settings, will make Live work as normal.
Swithcing back to ASIO, won't work again.
Also the test tone doesn't work.
Please note, that with the same setup, it worked couple of times.
It's just unreliable, in the sense that I cannot start it and expect it to work everytime.
