Playing Ambient/Industrial/IDM sets

Post by pdli_5 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 4:38 pm

Hey All,

I've actually done a number of shows already, but haven't yet found "THE" way that seems quite right. I'm trying to strike a good balance between "performance" and "stability". I want to be performing it, but I don't want to overwhelm the processor and RAM. I have a MacBook Pro, 2.4 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, OS 10.5.8, Live 8.2.1 Suite. I HAVE learned not to run 5-6 instances of Reaktor in a live set. :^p

Any ideas about running longer pads & reverbs that don't suck the processor too much, but sound natural?

Thanks!

That performance-stability contest is the one isn't it? When I create sounds that drive my cpu meter into bad places, I freeze them and play them on a sampler.

^^^exactly, that's what i do also.most of the time i use synths in the studio, record a lot of that as audio, and then when it's time to perform,i use those inside stuff like Reaktor or any other good sample mangler.works for me.
i mean, two instances of Reaktor Prism, one Metaphysical Function and 2c audio's Aether reverb and my computer will be almost on it's knees, begging for mercy.......NOT FUN.......

so here's to sample-mangling!

oh yeah,i use an Imac(late 2007 model),2.4 core2duo cpu,4gb ram,320 GB hd.

regarding reverbs that are cpu-efficient imo :

-Reaktor's Space Master is pretty good, and light on my cpu(but i guess you know it already)
-Audio Damage Eos is also good, light on cpu.
-2c Aether's Breeze is also good, pretty light on cpu.
