I have one word of my vocal track that is squashing the rest of my mix. I have cut mid-range frequencies in all of the other tracks but I think there is too much natural room reverb in the track so when it is compressed it takes up a lot of space. Does anyone have any ideas how to remedy this? Thanks.

Maybe gate it and try replacing with a shorter reverb?

I was hoping to avoid having it fade in the mix but since it was recorded in a big reverberating room there is just a lot of extra sound in the track. Thanks for your suggestions!

is it somewhere you can do something like drop out the kick or something? this kinda works to emphasise words i guess...
