Ableton 8 to Reason 5 - Audio / Midi

Post by marcobrito » Tue Jan 04, 2011 5:59 pm

hello.

It is possible to pass an audio track ableton 8 to reason 5? The option is there but how to change after in reason?
I play my guitar using the line 6 UX2 to an audio track. It is possible to pass that audio track to midi in ableton?
Thanks

Rewire allows audio to pass from from Reason into Ableton, not the other way around. It also allows Midi information to be sent from one program to the other - for example, to play Midi notes in ableton that trigger an instrument in Reason, and then have the audio from Reason pass back to Ableton.

But judging from your description (guitar audio to midi...) your understanding of audio connections could use some development. Do some research on recording Midi information VS. recording audio, this should help you clear up your understanding and get a better sense of how these two programs can work together. Reason offers no audio input recording other than version 5's new re-sampling abilities, which only work per-instrument (kong, nnxt, etc) and not as actual audio tracks. Hope this helps...

With Record you get audio inputs to Reason and you could use a tool like SoundFlower to send audio from Live to Record.
But it makes your whole set really messy as each time you want to open it, you would have to launch/configure 3 tools (Ableton + Record + SoundFlower). But hey, if you are ready for it.. have fun :)
