Hello everybody. I have searched extensively for information concerning this sort of thing and haven't been able to come up with much. I am hoping some of you have experience using the MPD32 with Live and might have some insight...
Basically, I am an electronic musician (like everyone else on here), and I am getting to a point where I'd like to start performing my music live. However, I am not too sure how to go about it.
I am really inspired by guys like Nosaj Thing, Baths, Flying Lotus, Free The Robots, etc... I've noticed that (nearly) all of them are using the MPD32 for their live sets. It would appear that they are loading up their tracks, some samples, and all effects to be controlled and then just sort of DJing through them. My question for you MPD32 users is: how intuitive/fun/creatively-inspiring has the MPD32 been for you using live? Is the 32 pretty simple to set up?

I currently own an NI Maschine and am fully aware of its Ableton control capabilities/limitations and can not decide whether to purchase the MPD32 for performance.
To be short, what do you think of the compatibility of Live and the MPD32?
And, if you have any advice as to how to format a Live set to achieve this sort of control, I'd love to hear it.

It works great with live. Sliders default to mixer and 8 pots are mapped to the instrument or effects rack. Pads are mapped to drum rack. I find the pads a little thin and hard but there is an upgrade kit available(have not tried that).

I just got an MPD32 last week and have been using Ableton for a month now.
Gotta say i was kinda sketchy on it because mates told me id be better off with the APC40,but i mainly use Reason for production so i needed endless knobs as well as Reason is the bees knees when it comes down to anything midi,but i havent yet found a parameter in Ableton that i use but cant be controlled with the MPD.
I cut the trackes that make up my tunes into loops,load em up into Ableton and use the MPD32 pads to trigger the clips.easy as pie.
Im currently working on setting Ableton up so my MPD is basically an MPC,recording beats from within or outside of my macbook.
Id be pissed off now if id got the APC so im glad i went against public opinion.

Do the MPD32 knobs handle MIDI feedback from Live?
That is, suppose you map an MPD32 knob to a Live control and you turn the knob to change the value of the control. Now you use your mouse to change the value of the control without turning the knob.
Does the value of the control find its way back to the MPD32 so that the next time you turn the knob, it changes the value of the control smoothly without jumping?
