MIDI Keyboard + Ipad Performance Rig Questions

I have the opportunity to pick up a slightly used 16GB Ipad at great price and am toying with the idea of trying to mount it on top of a MIDI keyboard and use the combo with Live 8 as my keyboard/synth/looping + clip launching and effects setup. I'm using a Launchpad alongside my Remote Sl Mk II 61 most of the time these days but I'm not totally 100% satisfied with how much control I've been able to get over MIDI looping and effects. Has anyone tried doing like this? Any recommendations/comments/considerations/warnings?
