Hi,

How do you recommend I record vocals for a song. After I have the whole song recorded, do you recommend using the arrangement view and record the vocals on another track? Thanks in advance.

Well... yes. Loop record a number of takes.

Unfortunately there is no comping in Live so each time you loop you lose the previous take. I would recommend duplicating the tracks numerous times and arming each one for each take, then slicing and manually comping the best bits as required.

Or rewire into another daw such as Studio One which has great vocal coming features. (tip: hang on to Muikmesse and they might repeat their $20 S1 Artist offer)

Thats the normal linear way of recording a song but you could record phrases into session view clips and fire them off in the sequence you require into an arrangement.

Flexibility is the key.

Thanks EX and UKRuss for your advice! One other thing. Once I record the vocals and other instruments how do you recommend i clean up the tracks? Do you recommend using Pro Tools or Audacity? Is there a way to save each individual session as an mp3 or wav and import them to PT or Audacity?

What do you mean by clean up? Its always best to get a clean recording to start with, I've never found any external processing is required.
