Launch Pad Velocity/Sustain

Post by JonHarry » Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:04 pm

Hey, just a quick question concerning the launchpad.

For one.... how do i have it control velocity?
-i.e. with drumkits when i press buttons all levels are the same, but if i want to controll their velocity with the launch pad how do i do that?

Secondly, how do i make it so when i push a button it "stays pushed"...
-example: when i have pieces of drum loops in impulse for example, i have to keep my finger pressed on the button so it plays the entire s sample, rather than having to simply press it once and have the sample play through.

thanks in advance!

The launchpad isn't velocity sensitive, it's more designed for clip launching and things of that sort rather than as a drumpad.

Under MIDI Effects are some useful tools. And you can assign some of the extra buttons on your LP to their parameters :)

Also, if you use the Automap mode you can assign any note layout you want onto a page. If you look up the CC# for Sustain Pedal, you can make either a momentary or toggle button to use as a sustain pedal. ..Velocity is a bit trickier, and I'd suggest sticking to using the Velocity MIDI Effect (mapped to a range of buttons)
